Behind the notes: the secret world of score editing
This workshop, presented by Marlène Demers-Lemay, guitarist, and musical etcher with Les Productions d’OZ, is an invitation to musicians and music lovers to discover the largely unknown universe of musical score editing and publishing. The workshop will present the rich tradition of musical engraving, from its artisanal beginnings to its digital developments, and highlight the central role of publishing firms in the creation and distribution of musical works. The workshop will also focus on the copyright protection of a score and on the issues at stake for the artistic community in the digital era. A unique and thought-provoking perspective on the world of classical music that leads to the responsible consumption of musical products.
